La
Folie is a Baroque Consort founded by
harpsichordist and organist Luke Haydn in the
autumn of 2016. La Folie stems from previous
projects with students in the Chichester
area. It has now branched out and includes many
players from further afield; the aim of the
orchestra is to bring some of the lesser-known
works of the Baroque to a wider audience, and to
show that Baroque …older music…doesn’t mean
boring! With a combination of musicians from
across the South coast and London, La Folie brings
historically-informed performances with a grand
sense of excitement.

Workshop
to Raise Awareness of Prevent (WRAP) – Train the
Trainer Target Group: Any
delegates interested in delivering WRAP training
in their workplace Course Aims: Prevent
is part of the governments counter terrorism
strategy, the aim of which is to reduce the risk
to the UK of terrorism by stopping people becoming
terrorists in the first place. The programme
has three main aims:
•
Respond to the ideological challenge of terrorism
and the threat we face from those who promote
it •
Prevent people from being drawn into terrorism and
ensure they are given appropriate advice and
support;
and •
Work with sectors and institutions where there are
risks of radicalisation that we need to address
In order to implement this training across the
island we are asking people to attend a one day
train the trainer event which will accredit
delegates to then deliver basic Prevent Awareness
to other staff within their
organisation. Notes: It is important to
remember that Prevent has come direct from the
Home Office, and as such anyone who agrees to
attend the Train-the-Trainer course will then be
responsible for cascading Prevent Awareness to
others in their service areas/organisation, and as
such must have the time available to do so. To
book a place on this course, please use the
Training Catalogue that can be accessed via the
Employee Self Service Portal.

you do not have access to the corporate network
please complete an online application form and

also ask that all delegates complete the online
training module, which can be found here Course

to speak on the
Island
He is provisionally
coming on the weekend of 25/26
November. The programme will probably
include a ministers’/leaders’ breakfast, an open
meeting at Ryde Baptist Church and then worship at
RBC on Sunday morning.
The musical is a wonderful
portrayal of the Christian message through the
story of Adam and Eve. Using the very latest
technology the audience will witness the creation
of the universe and the formation of man from the
dust.
The stage-set for Eden is
breathtaking. Our West End director
describes the show, “a visual treat and a
delight to the ears; one that will transport the
audience to another world.”
The musical stars
Kerry Ellis (First Lady of the
West End) as EVE, and Hugh Maynard
(Jesus Christ Superstar/Miss Saigon) as
ADAM, and Russell Watson as ‘THE

GOD.’

PROPHETIC
FOUNDATIONS
True Vine
Church in Newport will be hosting a Prophetic
Foundations course from September 26th. This year
we are making it available to the wider Island
Church family.
It will be a
fortnightly Tuesday Course with manuals and
workshops. The duration is approximately 7 months.
However, because it's module based, you can attend
the modules that interest you if you are unable to
commit to the whole series.
The course
is free, however manuals and journals will be
needed; this will be at a cost of
£14.
The course
is DVD based, with teachings by Kris Vallotton
from Bethel Church, Redding, California. Kris
leads alongside Bill Johnson and has a credible,
established prophetic ministry. All these
teachings are accompanied with manuals and
journals, to help map your prophetic journey, your
relationship with God and to meditate on new found
truths.
Each session
will also include 'workshops' so that you can
activate what's been taught and grow in confidence
towards God and others.
This is for
beginners and for those who would like training to
move forwards and deeper into the prophetic
gift.... and has already proven to be helpful and
fruitful.
"The chief role of a New
Testament prophet is not to prophesy. Primarily it
is to teach people how to hear the voice of God
for themselves. It is to teach people how to find
and live in the will of God for themselves. It is
to teach people how to move in the prophetic, but
even those things are not the prime gifting of a
prophet. The real ministry of a prophet, I
believe, is to make God radiant, is to tell people
how wonderful, how amazing, how astonishing He is
and to introduce superlatives back into our prayer
language and our witness of who God
is."

Eighty-year-old
Gerry Moglione is proposing to do a parachute jump
in aid of the roof repair fund for a church where
he regularly worships.
Gerry, a
former Island teacher, is seeking sponsors for a
tandem sky dive at Sandown airport in August, to
help towards the £100,000 needed for a large part
of the roof of the 19th century St
Mary’s Church, Cowes.
Praising his bold
challenge, the vicar of St Mary’s, the Rev Andrew
Poppe, said, “I am thrilled Gerry has put himself
forward to start this important fund-raising
project. He has always been an adventurous
sort, and hopefully he will not only be
raising money himself but the publicity will
encourage others to also fund-raise.
“The
church’s reserves have almost been used up in the
repair of the northern roof of the church; now the
aim is to raise money for the southern roof which
is also critically in need of
repair.”
Gerry is not only a member of the
Friends of St Mary’s Church but also,
incidentally, the president and long serving
member of the Friends of St Mary’s Hospital where
he is best known for regularly taking the
afternoon confectionery trolley around the
wards.
After taking early retirement as a
teacher in 1991 he became heavily involved in the
Island sports scene, serving as secretary of the
IW Sports and Recreation Council and 12 years as
Secretary of the IW Island Games
Association.
And although he once served in
the RAF, this will be his first parachute
jump.
Havant

new play which has been specifically written for

for playing the role of Jesus in the Life of
Christ at Wintershall and in Trafalgar Square,
London on Good Friday. James will be playing the
lead role of Jesus, in "Jesus in the
Park".
The new play is in the throes of
rehearsal but we would welcome more
actors, especially men and school age
children. The play will be performed in Havant
Park, in the open air, on Saturday 12th
and Sunday 13th August, entry is free but
bring a rug or garden chair to sit on!
Performances begin at 12noon and 3pm on Saturday

Volunteer for
NYAS
•
Do you want to make a difference to a young
person’s
life? • Do
you have 1- 4 hours per month to
spare?
We urgently require more
volunteers, so why not volunteer as a
mentor/befriender for NYAS as an Independent
Visitor for children and young people in
care.
As a volunteer you
will: •
Have fun, take young people on outings and maybe
share a hobby, sport or
interest. •
Offer support and a listening ear and be a
positive influence in a young person’s
life. •
Help build self-esteem and
confidence.
You don’t need any
special qualifications. We are looking for
reliable and dependable people from all walks of
life.We will provide training and on-going
support. We will pay expenses to a set
limit.
Here is what some of our young
people and volunteers have to say about this
rewarding
role: • I
like how my Independent Visitor isn’t anything to
do with social services and is here to support me,
not to
judge. •
They have boosted my confidence. Now I feel
like when I go places I can just relax and have
fun. • My
Young person always looks forward to me coming.
They have had such a disjointed life and I'm a
stable figure in their life. This has to be
important for them as everything else changes
around them a lot.
If you would like
to apply, please visit our website www.nyas.net
Enquiries can be made via: Rebecca
